Clinical Effect and safety of Intravenously Administered Pefloxacin on Various Infections in Department of General Surgery

Abstract
30 cases, 11 with acute appendicitis, 4 with duodenal ulcer perforation, 2 with postoperative.m.¢¥n wound infection, 2 with intra-abdominal abscess, 2 with burn, etc. were treated with intravenous Pefl xacin 400mg bid and were evaluated the clinical efficacy and safety.
The results were as follows,
1. The overall efficacy rate of intravenous Pefloxacin in various infection reveals 86.7%.
2. The blood cell count and biochemical laboratory data after cessation of treatment were within normal limit and didn¢¥t show any abnormality except preexisting abnormality of SGPT and total bilirubi . 3. The side effects of treatment were mild insomnia and stomatitis in 2 patients (6.7%).
